Artifact: A well-organized and professionally designed e-learning module on "Mentoring Best Practices”

Rationale: This artifact demonstrates my mastery of Competency 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, and 1.8. This module, created for LDT 640, is structured coherently, providing clear information for future Mentors, supported by relevant citations. It tailors communication to the audience of future Mentors to Mentees, uses appropriate sentence structures, follows standard written English conventions, and presents a neat and professional appearance.

Competency 2: Critical Thinking and Problem Solving

Artifact: Research analyzing student engagement in virtual classrooms.

Rationale: This artifact demonstrates my proficiency in Competency 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, and 2.5. It identifies and explains the instructional problem at a Natural Gas Company in Idaho. My team and I evaluated the information we collected logically, and developed an instructional solution based on the needs of employees.

Competency 3: Quantitative and Analytical Skills

Artifact: Learner performance data in an e-learning onboarding module

Rationale: This data demonstrates my proficiency in Competency 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. Participants used the online module and provided feedback on an online instructional module. The analysis contributed to informed decision-making for instructional improvements in the e-learning onboarding module for new instructors at Great Thrift Industries.

Competency 4: Leadership and Team Collaboration

Artifact: Project proposal and successful execution of a team-based instructional design project about preparing Mentors to lead a Mentee relationship.

Rationale: This wireframe illustrates my proficiencies of Competency 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4. The project demonstrates my leadership skills in planning and execution, articulating clear objectives and goals. As an engaged team member, I contributed to the project's success through wireframe development, video development, and narration.

Competency 5: Learning Design Theory and Research

Artifact: Learning solutions tied to research of an instructional problem.

Rationale: This project proposal affirms my proficiency in Competency 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, and 5.5. This course was designed as a team to address an instructional gap in a Natural Gas company in New Mexico. After assessing the context of the instructional gap, researching the instructional issues, and considering different learning design approaches, the team proposed solutions that would best meet the needs of this audience.

Artifact: Learning analytics report analyzing student engagement data and recommending course improvements.

Rationale: This signifies my proficiency in Competency 6.1 through 6.10. It applies learning analysis and evaluates instructional impact to inform decision-making. Visual representations aid in interpreting data, leading to recommendations for curricular improvements.

This learner-centered activity incorporates an online discussion board for participants to define their understanding of key terms. This site is embedded in the course’s LMS, demonstrating the efficient application of a multimedia-rich online environment.
